The main mission of Summertime by George! is to bring the community together for fellowship, food, and fun.
“Rotary’s overall mission is to bring service to mankind, locally, nationally, and internationally,” said Rotarian Tim Wensman. “By providing this free event with entertainment where all diverse people can gather and enjoy the same event and intermingle, we felt it was enhancing the quality of life for the whole community.”
St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis stressed that community is one of the core aspects of a vital city. He feels Summertime by George! has helped to create that place where people can come together and connect.
“It’s like going to a family reunion once a week,” said Kleis. “I get the chance to talk to people I may not have seen in a while, and it’s great to hear from people. It’s a great opportunity for neighbors and friends and family to come together and listen to a free concert.”

St. Cloud resident Lisa Sabyan has been attending SBG! since the beginning.
“I like that it is an all-ages event,” said Sabyan. “We can be there with our kids and we can eat. They can play. We can go as a couple on a date night or go with a group of friends. (The event) showcases the local artists and food we have in the area. And it gives a chance for people to experience those vendors.”

In addition to the fantastic band lineup, families can enjoy the kids’ activities at Little Georgetown. Kids’ activities range from arts and crafts to paddle boating on Lake George. There’s something for every age.
Each Wednesday night, local businesses and vendors gather in Middle Town Market to sell food, treats, and goods. Food vendors vary from cheesecake in a waffle cone to samosas and traditional burgers. This year’s event will also include retailers and non-profit organizations.
“The vendors are so happy to be returning to Summertime by George,” said Rotarian Julie Zniewski. “They have become friends with the other vendors and are excited to serve customers and see each other.”
Eastman Tavern has become a popular gathering place. Conveniently located near the stage, visitors can purchase beer or wine from Rotary and St. Cloud Rotaract volunteers. Rotaract members, a service club for young professionals, put in over 400 volunteer hours each year at SBG!
